Welcome to the DJ page of the
Sumter
Shag Club website. Beach/Shag music is primarily what most people
refer to as Rhythm and Blues. When someone says, “play me some
beach music,” they are typically thinking of The Drifters, Chairmen of
the Board, Embers, Catalina's, etc…That is only the tip of the iceberg!
There are way too many artists to name here, and I must add that the
crossover hit that propelled rhythm and blues into what we know as beach
music was “Sixty Minute Man” by Billy Ward and the Dominoes. I
play a majority of the blues with a little of other beach music
sprinkled in. If you interested in experiencing this great music genre,
come out on Tuesdays and dance with us! My name is Brett Bishop
and I am the club DJ for our Sumter Shag Club. I am a member of the
Association of Beach and Shag Club DJ's
and I play every Tuesday at Legacies in Sumter
for our club. If you have any questions about the music we love to dance
to, please feel free to call me at 803-968-9717 or email me at
scshagdj@hotmail.com
with your request.
